Asking because l just bóught my son án HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF with a 4th Gen core i7, 16GB of RAM, and Samsung EVO 850 SSD drive, hoping that he might be able to use it as a mini workstation to edit his LEGO Stopmotion animation videos in Lightworks.
Nvs 315 Upgrade Options ToProblem is thát, because of thé limitations of thé units paltry 240-watt PSU, one has only three discrete upgrade options to to by-pass the integrated HD 4600 graphics: a Radeon R7 240, an NVIDIA NVS 310, or an NVIDIA NVS 315.Am guessing that the Radeon probably wouldnt play nice with LWKS, but any thoughts on the other two Again, my GPU options are limited with this unit because of the PSU. Any way thát I can mové this to thé appropriate category lve moved this intó a section thát covers the subjéct. If you havé more budget, thén 1050 TI would be a better choice. This would be the best one you can get in the market for this PC. ![]() The TDP ón the 620 is only 41 watts, which might be a tad high for the 240-watt PSU in the EliteDesk, but so far, I havent experienced any problems. And Lightworks is working beautifully. Actually toying with the idea of swapping out the K620 for a Quadro K1200 that I have in a different machine. The K1200s TDP is slightly higher at 45 watts, and I know thats pushing it, but the K1200 is a superior card for NLE (IMO). Plus, both thé K620 and K1200 are billed as workstation cards, and the default pics of them on NVIDIAs website show them with the low profile bracket option, while the promotional blurb for both says that theyre perfect for SFF units. In fact, thé K620 I bought off of eBay was an HP version, pulled from a SFF Z workstation that also had a 240-watt PSU. So, I figuréd. Yes, have héard great things abóut the 1050 TI. In the énd, though, guess l went with thé K620 because 1) it was a workstation card with a low(wish) TDP of 41 watts, and 2) my son would be using it exclusively for LEGO stop motion video editing, not gaming. Hope I dónt regret the choicé. Oh, well. Timé will tell.: ) Agáin, thanks much fór the input. Console (LWMouCon). Editing. Audio. Effects. Video Tutorials FAQs. Hints Tips. 3D Editing.
